Why usability?

The success of products and services that are based on Information and Communication Technology is, to a major extent, determined by usability.

Why usability testing?

Usability testing is an important instrument for systematically addressing the user and usage perspective during system (re)development. Recent research shows that investing in user centered design has a return of investment of about 50 days. Usability helps to extend the user group and to realise accessibility for different user groups, such as elderly and handicapped (i.e. to satisfy the "universal accessibility" and "design for all" standards).

Why TNO?

TNO is an independent ISO-certified organisation. The Human Interfaces group (HI) of TNO develops and applies guidelines, methods and user interface concepts that guide the software development process to improve the task support, accessibility and ease of interaction. Usability

Usability is defined as the effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction with which specific users achieve specific goals in a specific context of use (cf. ISO standard 9241-11: Guidance on usability).
